Report for the 24th General Assembly
FIG Working Week in Seoul, 6-11 May 2001

WORKING WEEK 2005, CAIRO, EGYPT, 8-15 MAY 2005

The Egyptian Committee on Surveying and Mapping (ECSM) has formed an organizing committee for the preparation of the FIG Working Week 2005. This committee has nominated the delegates to the FIG commissions as well as defining the working groups for the preparation of the WW 2005. These working groups have to accomplish the following tasks and reviewing it with the organizing committee:

  • Conference pre- and post-excursions and tours to be at the convenient of all members
  • Technical excursions and social events
  • The design of the conference slogan
  • Surveying the most suitable conference places in Cairo taking into consideration the transportation and the easiest ways to and from the hotels to the conference place
  • Preparing the conference theme on which the conference papers will be submitted and to be linked in a good way to the previous themes of the FIG meetings
  • Contacting the members of the Arab League in the surveying and mapping profession (Syria, Lebanon etc.). We see that it is most important to have a full information about the hottest issues in the region of the Middle East about the role of surveying and mapping in the regional development.

The organizing committee has also proposed that the conference date will be on the second week of May (8-15 May 2005), as the weather will be suitable in Egypt.
