FIG Newsletter – March 2022


Dear Colleague,

FIG Council has released the names of the nominated candidates for the positions for President and Vice Presidents for the term 2023-2026. Elections will take place during the General Assembly at the Congress 2022. FIG Council has also appointed new FIG Foundation Directors and a new chair of Africa Regional Network.

It is now time to prepare your attendance at the FIG Congress. Register (at the early bird fee), book your hotel (at discounted rate), and look forward to all the benefits of an on-site event. Check the pre-events and tours that are also offered.

We are continuing our series on FIG and the SDG's, and in this issue we will concentrate on FIG Commission 6 on Engineering Survey. You are invited to an open consultation on the IPMS standard. On and around 21 March, Surveyors Day was celebrated around the world.

FIG Congress 2022 - Join us in September

The local organisers from SGP - the Polish Association of Surveyors - together with FIG, are fully occupied with the preparations of this special event that has to be organised within a year. The Congress only takes place once every 4 years, and it marks the final year of the current leadership of FIG, the council and commissions and there will be elections for a new President and new Vice Presidents.

The Congress offers a large and exciting technical programme. Before the conference days there will be the possibility to attend a selection of pre-events.

We cannot wait to meet again in person.
Although we have learned that online meetings work well, the face-to-face presence brings an extra layer to a conference experience, such as:

  • - the possibility to meet new and reconnect with old colleagues

Surveying and Mapping

This book provides an introduction, at academic level, into the field of surveying and mapping. The book has been written for the third-year course Surveying and Mapping, in the bachelor program of Civil Engineering at Delft University of Technology.
